Bryan named Top 5 Best Hometowns in Ohio

Jennifer Stantz

Bryan will be featured in a fall edition of Ohio Magazine as one of five Ohio Best Hometowns of 2024-25.

To determine the honorees, Ohio Magazine solicited nominations and conducted site visits across the state in the spring and summer. The editors evaluated the nominees in six categories — Community Spirit, Education, Entertainment, Health and Safety, Business Environment and Culture and Heritage — to help finalize their selections.

Bryan Mayor Carrie Schlade said the honor was made possible through the collaborative effort of many involved.

“We are thrilled to receive this recognition as Bryan continues to add to the quality of life in every corner of the city,” Schlade said. “Our community is engaged in moving forward and working together to make Bryan the best place to live, work and play.”

“This is an exciting and well-deserved honor for Bryan, Ohio,” added Diana Eschhofen of the Bryan Area Foundation. “Our community has so much to offer, and there is a lot happening to make it even better.

Eschhofen also worked with area leaders to gather all of the information and submitted the nomination to Ohio Magazine on behalf of the community.

“From the downtown square to the outskirts of town, community pride is clear,” Eschhofen added. “A lot of people have and continue to invest energy and resources to keep our community strong. Ohio Magazine’s recognition is a great reward, and we hope it attracts even more people to consider Bryan as a great place to visit and to live.”

Each of Ohio Magazine’s Best Hometowns will be featured in the Nov./Dec. 2024 and July/Aug. 2025 issues, showing readers unique places to visit and ways to enjoy each location.

Bryan joins Hilliard, McConnelsville, Millersburg and Urbana as the honorees for the 2024-25 edition. Past winners of the award from the region include Perrysburg (2022-23 and 2008-09), Sandusky (2021-22), Bowling Green (2017-18 and 2007-08), Maumee (2016-17 and 2006-07) Defiance (2014-15) and Archbold (2011-12).

This was also the second time Urbana was named to the honor.
