The Williams County Port Authority approved a quote for the building of a new house in West Unity.
Andelynn Homes submitted a bid for $148,500 to build a house at 110 S. Lynn St. in West Unity.
Authority member Sean Rupp said the construction will be in the new style featuring three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
“We already have an interested party,” he said. “We have someone who’s been waiting on us to build that particular design. It’s what they want, it’s what they’ve been pre-approved for.”
This will be the second house built on this design, which Rupp said is a “little fancier” with an overhang and front porch in addition to the additional bathroom.
The first house under this design is being built in Stryker on King Street with a third planned for a lot on Empire Street in Montpelier, he said.
“It looks a little more natural in the older neighborhoods, it’s an older looking (design),” Rupp said.
This will be the second house the authority has under construction with two more houses built and on the market.
Separately, Ashely Epling, authority secretary and director of Williams County Economic Development, Corp., said she and Rupp attended a conference last week and did a presentation on what the authority is doing.
“It went very well,” she said. “We had several people stay over afterwards to have a conversation with us. I have some contact information for a couple different, interested parties in looking at what is available for property in Williams County.”
The authority went into executive session to discuss acquisition of property with no action reported.
