ryan City Board of Education appointed a new board member Monday following the vacancy left by Scott Benedict after his resignation last month.

“I’ve always liked helping and serving in the community,” Wieland said. “The school is important; the future of our community lies with the education of our kids and I’m honored to be a part of it.”
Wieland is also a former member of Bryan City Council where he served as president.
In other business, the board accepted the following personnel resignations: Sandy Keller, elementary secretary; Bobbie Beck, elementary secretary; Kraig Bostelman, assistant baseball coach; John Robarge, assistant softball coach.
Approved supplemental contracts were Samantha Molina, head softball coach; Hilary Staten, assistant softball coach; Brian Arnold, assistant softball coach; Paula Fry, assistant softball coach; Jarred Kepler, assistant baseball coach; and Matthew Kaullen, spring e-sports coach.
The board also approved the internal transfer of Nicole Malanga from fifth grade math to fourth grade math, with the fifth grade math position being advertised.
